Linda Places in the Top Ten for Wildlife Photographers in the USA
Linda and I both had good luck in Yellowstone in the winter and in the Oneeyeland Wildlife Photo Contest. Linda won a bronze award for her Shake it Off coyote photo and had three other finalists…a bison from Yellowstone, three lion brothers from Tanzania and another shot of the coyote outstanding in the field…also made the Finals. Big congrats to my wife…glad to see her work recognized.
We had the good fortune to join our friend, Mark Comon of Paul’s Cameras in Torrance, California…as members of a small group of photographers from his Creative Photo Academy Yellowstone in Winter tour. The photos in this article were from our 2024 tour with Mark. We liked it so much that we returned in 2025…and will contest those photos next year. We love Yellowstone in the winter.
We thought it was cold on our 2024 trip…and it was…minus 35 the first day. However, the 2025 trip beat it…it was minus 40. Caused a few camera malfunctions and kept us bundled up…but we loved both trips. Mark and his crew do a great job.
Tough critters to live for months in the cold and snow…but fun to watch them go about their lives.
I am particularly happy that this one made the Finals for Linda. This was on the Serengeti on a 2023 trip we took with our friend, and great guide, Todd Gustafson. Three male lions who obviously cared about one another.
We never had the time to do the kind of travel we have been doing…during our working years. That is one of the many reasons that retirement rocks. We don’t take photos to win prizes (but are always happy when that happens)…we do it because we love travel, photography and all the beauty this world has to offer.
Aloha,
